Trump requested that Spicer stay on, but Spicer declined to do so and told the president that hiring Scaramucci was a major mistake, according to the Times report.
He is scheduled to make his first post-resignation television appearance on Friday with Fox News host Sean Hannity.

Spicer told The Washington Post he will stay in his post for a couple of weeks to assist with the transition and when he leaves, he will "continue to advance the president's agenda."
